Support CML

"We must prepare young people for living in a world
of powerful images, words and sounds."
— UNESCO, 1982

The Center for Media Literacy is an effective advocate for media education in the United States only because of the generous support of hundreds of individual and institutional donors.

Although the Center receives over 50% of its operating budget from sale of resources, consulting fees, training fees and other earned income, it is individual donations and tax-deductible contributions, large and small, that provide the critical dollars needed to fund the development of potential projects and to supplement teacher training and programs that are not (yet) self-sustaining.

Your support is needed! And your contribution makes a difference. We ask with enthusiasm and we invite you to respond as generously as you can to our general fund — or designate your gift for one of the following project categories:

  • Real World Outreach: Support workshops and training opportunities for teachers as well as the documenting of "best practices" and case studies of exemplary classrooms and schools.
  • Media Issue Campaigns: Expand our coverage and promote deeper understanding, practical methods and effective strategies for addressing critical issues in the media literacy field through our Internet-based forums on such issues as:
    • Violence in the Media
    • Gender/Race/Ethnic Diversity
    • How to Teach Media Literacy
    • Students Making Media
    • News, Politics and Citizenship
    • Computer Literacy/Digital Revolution
  • New Voices Initiative: Help us invest in the research, development and publishing of new materials for teaching media literacy in the K-12 classroom.
  • Leadership Fund: Support CML's leadership role in media literacy education in the United States — and around the world.
